The Miami Book Fair selected New World School of the Arts graphic design student Isabella Isaza’s artwork for its 2026 poster.
Isaza, who is scheduled to graduate from NWSA in 2028, made the design on procreate and uploaded it on illustrator to vectorize it so that its quality would not diminish.
The opportunity came to Isaza in a visual design class where students were assigned to create a poster for the Book Fair. As a Miami native, she wanted to create a poster rooted in the city and its history instead of focusing only on books.
Her piece, Foundation of Learning, features the Miami Freedom Tower, a symbol of resilience for immigrants in the city and now serving as a contemporary art museum at The College. The tower in the 23-year-old piece, is made of books with the sky as its background.
“As the name of my piece suggests, you get to learn,” Isaza said. “You are coming to the United States and you are learning who you can become, reaching for books that can offer you this knowledge that helps shape the foundation of who you are.”
The Book Fair will take place Nov. 15-22 at MDC Wolfson Campus, 300 N.E. Second Ave.
