Padrón Campus Professor Appointed To National PTK Board of Directors

Diego Tibaquirá, a computer science professor and adviser to the Eduardo J. Padrón Campus Phi Theta Kappa chapter, Beta Kappa Iota, was elected to the national PTK Board of Directors.

He was elected during PTK Catalyst, the annual Phi Theta Kappa Conference held in Baltimore, Maryland from March 26 through March 29.

Tibaquirá will serve a three-year term as a chapter advisor representative and can be re-elected.

“It is an amazing accomplishment and the result of my 16 years working as the lead advisor of the PTK chapter at Padrón Campus,” Tibaquirá said.

He is lead faculty for The Honors College at Padrón Campus and a three-time endowed teaching chair recipient, who received the honor in 2017, 2021 and 2025.

Tibaquirá earned an associate degree in networking technology from Craven Community College in North Carolina in 2000. Two years later, he received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

He also has a master’s degree in computer science from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and a doctorate degree in information technology and distance education from Nova Southeastern University.
