Mr. Roboto: Steven Bagley, 18, tests out a robot during the Robotics Camp at North Campus. The third annual Robotics Camp was from July 6-24. It invited students between the ages of 14-18 to learn to program robots using National Instruments LabView, learn to program Arduino circuit boards, use SolidWorks 3D, and exposed them to 3D printing. Summer Smiles: Aracely Lopez teaches a young student how to swim at the Aquatic and Fitness Center on July 27 as part of North Campus’ Kidscene Camp. The camp, which was for children between the ages of 5-11, took place during various sessions this summer between June and August. Gopher Tortoises: Miami Dade College’s Environmental Center resident female gopher tortoise laid nine eggs (four of them pictured here) on April 24. Seven of the nine eggs were successfully incubated and hatched in Mid-July. The gopher tortoises are used for educational purposes, such as teaching children the importance of the local ecology. Two of the seven baby tortoises will be kept at the Environmental Center while the remaining five will be relocated and released at Jonathan Dickinson State Park. MICHAEL TACORONTE / THE REPORTER
