Celebratory Cigar: Many Cubans gathered in front of Versailles Restaurant in Miami to celebrate Fidel Castro's death. Castro died late in the night on Nov. 25 and people took to the streets of Miami shortly after, dancing and singing.

Homeland Freedom: Franco Rogelio waves a Cuban flag on Calle Ocho as he celebrates Fidel Castro’s death. Rogelio was part of different opposition groups in Cuba and was imprisoned at the age of 17.

Highest Honor: President Barack Obama awarded Miami Dade College President Eduardo J. Padrón the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilain honor, during a ceremony in the White House on Nov. 22. Padrón was honored for his work in education. Upon his return to Miami, students, faculty and staff surprised him with a celebration on Nov. 23 at the Wolfson Campus.
