InterAmerican Campus math professor, Rosany Alvarez received Miami Today’s 2015 Silver Medal on April 30. The award is meant to honor a prominent individual or industry nominated by their peers for their achievements during the preceding year.

Alvarez has been working as a math professor for nearly 25 years at the IAC teaching courses in algebra, calculus, and developmental mathematics. She takes joy in making an impact through her day-to-day interactions with students and “seeing them improve, overcome obstacles, and tell me personally ‘I get this’ or even ‘I am starting to like this’ is even better,” Alvarez said.

Alvarez received her Ph. D. in computer science from FIU in 2002. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida International University and University of Miami, and is an MDC 1984 alumna.
