Sophia Massie, who serves as a photographer for The Reporter, was recently selected to participate in the O, Miami Greenhouse fellowship.
The fellowship pairs people ages 18 through 25 with a mentor to work on artistic or writing projects for twelve weeks. Their work will be displayed at Green Space Miami on August 29 at the end of the program.
Participants will meet with their mentors and peers on a weekly basis at several locations throughout Miami, including the Pérez Art Museum Miami and Iris PhotoCollective ArtSpace.
“I’m just excited to use this as a goal to focus on my photography and my photography projects,” Massie said. “This past fall and spring I’ve been a little more preoccupied, so now that it’s the summer things are a little bit slower.”
The 22-year-old has been a staff photographer at The Reporter since 2024. Her coverage includes the Miami Film Festival, the Wolfson Archives and local concerts.
Massie also served as co-editor-in-chief of Miambiance, the literary arts magazine at Kendall Campus, where she worked on Volume 36.
She is expected to graduate from Miami Dade College in August with an associate’s degree in mass communications and journalism.
