Sara Serpa To Perform At Jazz At Wolfson Presents

Wolfson Campus, 300 N.E. Second Ave., will feature vocalist  Sara Serpa during the next Jazz at Wolfson Presents event on Feb. 14 at noon in Room 1261.

 Serpa is a Portuguese singer, composer and improviser who has released ten albums in the past 16 years. Her latest project, Night Birds, was released in September.

The 45-year-old is the co-founder of Mutual Mentorship for Musicians (M³), an organization that aims to support women and non-binary musicians, and currently teaches at The New School in New York City.

In 2019, Serpa was selected as the Rising Star-Female Vocalist by the Downbeat Magazine Critics Poll, and one year later she was voted as NPR’s Jazz Vocalist for her album. Serpa was also an Artist-In-Residence at Park Avenue Armory from 2019-22.

Jazz at Wolfson Presents is an annual series at Miami Dade College that features performances by renowned jazz artists throughout the school year.
