SAS Student Wins Coveted HEAT Scholarship

Lauryn Louis, a senior at the School for Advanced Studies at Wolfson Campus, was one of three high school students to win the prestigious 2019 HEAT Scholarship.

The HEAT scholarship, a $5,000 prize, is awarded to high school students that have excelled academically and demonstrated commitment to their community.

“I was really ecstatic and it really motivated me,” Louis said. “I feel more secure and I’m not as hesitant to apply to other scholarships now.”

Louis, 18, will graduate in May. She is currently part of the Student Government Association at Wolfson Campus and the National Honor Society. Along with a 4.0 GPA, Louis volunteers at the Teaching Heart Foundation, an organization that provides tutoring and community service to students.

She received the award during a Philadelphia 76ers Vs. Miami HEAT game at American Airlines Arena on April 9.
