MDC Students Awarded Frances Wolfson Art Scholarship

Five MDC students have been awarded the Frances Wolfson Art Scholarship. It will cover costs for books, tuition, fees and art supplies.

The students who won the scholarship are Gabriella Laventure, 23, Kendall; Edgar Orlando Ocampo, 20, Homestead; Ingrid Olson, 19, North; Amanda Simeon, 18, Wolfson; and Nguyen Vu, 20, New World School of the Arts. They will each be rewarded $1,500.

To date, more than 200 students have benefited from the scholarship. It is in honor of the late artist and philanthropist Frances Wolfson. The scholarship is run by the MDC Foundation.

“We encourage students to continue the legacy of the late Frances Wolfson, who has inspired generations of young artists through both her artwork and philanthropy,” said Alyssa Zamora, director of communications and digital engagement.

To qualify, students must be full-time second year students and have a 2.0 GPA or higher.
