North Campus To Host The African-American Read-In

The African-American Read-In will be hosted on Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. in North Campus, 11380 N.W. 27 Ave., Room 3249.

The 2018 keynote address will be presented by Kalfani Turè, a postdoctoral associate at Yale University. Turè will be discussing his mentor Elijah Anderson’s book The Cosmopolitan Canopy.

At the event, guests can also attend one of two workshops at 11 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Surrounding the racial gap and diversity, the workshops will be hosted by Minorities of the Future and the student government association.

Partnered with the Miami Book Fair Year-Round and International Reading Association, the AARI encourages the use of literature to celebrate Black History Month.

The event is free and open to MDC students, Miami Dade County Public Schools and invited guests.
