Former Reporter Sports Writer Lands Internship At Univision

Isaac Gomez, who served as a sports writer for The Reporter from fall of 2014 through fall of 2015, landed a paid internship at Univision Miami.

Gomez, 26, is scheduled to start on Jan. 10. The internship will run through the end of the spring semester. His duties will include being a scriptwriter, editor and videographer.

“Whether you are writing a story or shooting a news package, the approach is almost the same as being a part of a great [organization] like The Reporter that helps develop those skills,” Gomez said.

In 2020, amidst the pandemic, Gomez developed two podcasts. Voice Visions showcases local artists and small businesses and PlugTalkSports live streams on Youtube and Twitch every week.

At The Reporter, Gomez covered the baseball, softball and volleyball teams. He graduated from Kendall Campus in 2019 with an associate’s degree in mass communications.

After Miami Dade College, Gomez served as a video communications intern in Florida International University’s Athletics Department for two years. He is expected to earn his bachelor’s degree in broadcast production from FIU in May.
