Miami Dade College-TV won four Silver Davey Awards during the 18th annual Davey Awards virtual ceremony on Oct. 25.
The Davey Awards is a yearly-held international competition overseen and judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts—a group of renowned professionals in the visual arts industry.
During the past seven years, MDC-TV has won nine Davey Awards.
“I’m so proud and happy for students that are getting the recognition they deserve for such hard work and enthusiasm, ” said Ariel Rubalcava, MDC-TV’s executive producer and senior producer.
Carrie P. Meek Tribute, a video biography of former MDC professor and congressional representative Carrie Meek, won an award in the History/Biography film & video category.
Breaking The Silence, a film featuring a student-led music composition created for a historical silent film, won awards in the education and craft editing for online film & video categories.
From Dreams to Reality, The Ruston Academy Story won an award in the documentary online film & video category for its feature on the history of the American school in Havana, Cuba, founded in 1920 by Hiram Ruston.
The winning team includes Rubalcava, executive producer Robert Parrondo, coordinating producer Tony Leal, audio engineer Armed Torrecilla, orchestral director Alberto Bade and executive producer Barry Gordon.
