Xavier Valdes was appointed director of student recruitment services at Medical Campus on Feb 1.
Valdes will connect high school students with opportunities at the College. Before his appointment, he served as the department’s interim director for 11 months.
“My goal is always to help students see the path through,” Valdes said. “I want them to know that they have an opportunity to grow here, even if it’s not in the medical field.”
Valdes began working at Miami Dade College in 2017, serving a two-year stint as a pre-college advisor at Hialeah Campus. In 2019, he worked for three years as a senior academic and career advisor at Medical Campus.
The 35-year-old earned a bachelor’s degree in cross-cultural sociology from Carson-Newman University in Tennessee in 2010. Three years later, he attained a master’s degree in organizational learning and leadership from Barry University.
