Kendall Campus Opera Workshop Presents Blue Monday Concert

The Kendall Campus Opera Workshop will perform Blue Monday on Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the McCarthy Auditorium at Kendall Campus, 11011 S.W. 104 Street, Room 6120.

Blue Monday is a one-act “jazz-opera” created by American composer and pianist George Gershwin for the George White Scandals of 1922, a musical by William Claude Dukenfield.

Influenced by the music and Black culture of Harlem, the opera is considered one of the earliest forms of symphonic jazz, a style that blends classical music and American popular music.

The piece runs about twenty to thirty minutes, but the performance will feature additional songs composed by Gershwin.

Admission is free.
