Medical Campus Awarded $100,000 Grant To Support CNA Program

Miami Dade College’s Medical Campus received a $100,000 grant from Simply Healthcare, a South Florida-based healthcare organization, for the development of its certified nursing assistant program.

The endowment was announced during the College’s monthly Board of Trustees meeting at Wolfson Campus on Dec. 12.

Funds will support approximately 60 student scholarships including tuition, lab fees, uniforms, background checks, textbooks and certifications during the spring semester.

Through its 120-hour program, which includes classroom and hands-on training on the campus’ CNA lab, students will learn patient care skills, such as how to assist with bathing, ambulating, body mechanics, vital signs and documentations. Students will also attain experience at an outside facility.

Applicants must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, submit their high school transcripts and pass a Level 2 background and fingerprinting check.
