Fifteen Miami Dade College students are a part of Global Medical Brigades, a non-profit organization that provides free health care and financial and medical assistance to underdeveloped areas such as Panama, Honduras, and Ghana.
The students that are a part of the organization recently took a trip to an underdeveloped town in Honduras.
Tabitha Baca, the president of Global Medical Brigades Club at MDC, shared how the people of the town were lacking in hygienic education, resources, and transportation to the hospitals.
Through the organization they were taught how to do vitals on the patients, hand out medications, and shadow doctors.
The students plan to take a trip on July 31 for ten days to do the same in Ghana, Africa.
Baca explained how rewarding it is to be a part of something like Global Medical Brigades.
“Being selfless is a constant battle between desire and constrain but, the peace that results from it is invaluable,” Baca said.
