Korean-born visual artist Sunkoo Yuh will present his multiculturally rich sculptures at the Grafted Stories exhibition. Yuh’s work will be on display at the MDC Museum of Art and Design, located at the Freedom Tower, 600 Biscayne Blvd., until Jan. 15.
His artwork of ceramic sculptures, consisting of animals from the Chinese lunar calendar, blends his experiences of new beginnings, his own imagined universe and cultural traditions while representing psychological realities.
Yuh’s numerous experiences as a visiting artist have included stints at universities like the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. He received the Albert Christ-Janer Creative Research Award in 2015 and placed second at the World Ceramic Biennale International Competition.
The MOA+D is open Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. Private tours are available upon request.
