The Brick, a local farm-based restaurant, is bringing a fresh food outlook to the urban-styled residential area in downtown Dadeland.
The main design of The Brick is a wood gazebo illuminated by strings of lights creating a warm, at home feel for customers.
“I wanted something rustic, to be able to feel really comfortable and casual for people,” said Cory Bousquet, owner of The Brick.
Bousquet has planned to open his own restaurant since he was 15 and once he learned about the rising Kendall area, he decided the location was the ideal spot to start his business.
He loved the idea of having the apartments on top of the restaurant because it made his place a first option of sorts.
While The Brick is geared toward families, it also provides a fun easy going atmosphere for younger customers, serving as an outlet to neighboring college kids looking for a posh hangout instead of other usual and sometimes predictable locations.
“It’s a very close knit young environment that college kids can also come to,” said Kasia Williams, a hostess at The Brick .
The Brick offers four different menus corresponding with the different seasons. A current popular dish served at the restaurant is the roasted cauliflower mac and cheese. It includes Israeli couscous, smoked gouda and parmesan panko.
“I tried the cauliflower mac and cheese, [and] it was delicious,” said Carlos Munoz, a customer.
Bousquet’s favorite dish on the menu is the lemon coriander free range chicken.
“I’m a big chicken fanatic,” Bousquet said. “It’s very important for me to have a free-ranging all natural chicken, so we really went through a lot of different chickens to get the right one in.”
Alongside unique and very personal meals, The Brick offers a bevy of happy hour selections. A popular menu section is the cocktails with a conscience that use only organic spirits, bitters and simple syrups. Another popular event for the restaurant is Whiskey Wednesday.
As the downtown Dadeland area continues to grow and produce more attractions for neighboring residents, The Brick has established a sensible menu keeping everything fresh and healthy while creating a homely ambiance for their customers to come back to.
