Hilary Ramirez Payamps and Dianela Tabares Revilla, students in the Honors College at the Eduardo J. Padrón Campus, received the Phi Theta Kappa Guistwhite Scholarship.
The scholarship will award $5,000 to each student to use for their pursuit of a bachelor’s degree. To apply, applicants had to be Phi Theta Kappa members, have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and be enrolled in six or more credits.
“When I learned that I had been selected as a Guistwhite Scholar, I felt incredibly happy and honored…my immediate reaction was to call my mom and share the exciting news,” Tabares Revilla said.
Tabares Revilla, 20, is a second-year student majoring in biology on a pre-med track. She plans to transfer to either John Hopkins University or the University of Miami and aspires to be a pediatrician.
Ramirez Payamps, 20, is a sophomore majoring in International Relations who aspires to be a diplomat. She applied to six universities and was accepted to Boston University so far.
