Financial Aid Provides Award Letter To Students

The Obama administration will be launching a new student program which forces all colleges, institutes and universities to provide students with a financial aid award letter.

The role of the award letter is to force institutions to disclose cost of classes, hidden fees and other charges to students. The notice is meant to help students understand the content of their  financial aid packages and where their money is invested.

“With this new proposition, students will begin to better identify their grants and disbursements,” said Martha Suarez, financial aid advisor at the Wolfson Campus.

The program has already been in effect throughout Miami Dade College, where students can see the price for classes and are subject to a payment date. Scholarships and grants can be reviewed through the MDC website as they are posted throughout the semester.
