Four Miami Dade College students—Alban Allajbegu, Ariel Nunez, Bryan Natera and Anthony Ordoñez—will attend a robotics class at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) this semester. The program is funded by the Eduardo J. Padrón Innovation Fund and was started by professor Ramiro Almeida.
The students, who will not receive MIT credits, will be attending MIT for the entire semester and will be observing a robotics class where they will learn how to build and program self-driving cars. They will return to the College in April to showcase the cars and go back to MIT to finish the program in May.
Ariel Nunez, 19, who is majoring in computer engineering at Wolfson Campus, hopes to learn and gain new experiences as well as better himself academically.
“In addition to gaining knowledge and working with some of the greatest minds at MIT, it will be a very meaningful experience learning about the stuff I’m interested in,” said Alban Allajbegu, 19, a sophomore engineering major at Wolfson Campus.
