Hialeah Campus Hosts Virtual Spoken Word To Celebrate Black History Month

Hialeah Campus will present the third annual Virtual Spoken Word: A Tribute to Black History Month on Feb. 3 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. via Blackboard Collaborate.

The event will feature 20-25 student-made exhibitions, performances, writings and poems about Black family, race and identity. Attendees will have a chance to show their own work once the scheduled students are finished.

“[This] allows students to prospectively put themselves in the shoes of a culture that they may or may not be familiar with,” said speech communications professor Yane Nemeroff, who is hosting the event. “It allows them to be creative and [to] get in touch with a culture that they may not necessarily identify with or be a part of.”

Students and faculty are encouraged to attend.
