MDC Live Arts Starts Season With Pakistani Jazz Group Sachal Ensemble

Miami Dade College Live Arts will open its 2017-18 season with The Sachal Ensemble: Song of Lahore on Nov. 4 at 8 p.m at Olympia Theater, 174 E. Flagler St.

The Pakistani ensemble performs self-reorchestrated iconic jazz standards and folk music using traditional instruments. Founded in the 1970s, The Sachal Ensemble sought to combat terrorism with their music.

“There’s a lot of beauty in the music, people and culture of Pakistan and these artists are here to spread that message,” said Kathryn Garcia, the director of MDC Live Arts.
