On Aug. 18, Miami’s Arts + Entertainment District hosted a celebration for transit riders in collaboration with Miami Dade Transit and their new Miami’s Never Moved Like This initiative. The festive ride Miami Soul Train took place on the Metromover and provided passengers with an unorthodox way of experiencing the Miami Dade Transit system. Each rider was given headphones (a choice of red, blue or green) with matching glowstick flares courtesy of Silent Revolution MIA. Riders were also given the option to grab a bite or drink from Mac’s Pubs, Box of Chacos and Wynwood Parlor. About 200 riders took part in this event which featured DJ Le Spam and the Spam Allstars. The mover made three stops: School Board, College North and Bayfront Park station, with performances by DJ Uncle Scotchy & Lone Wolf, Xperimento and Patrick & The Swayzees. Afterward, riders were treated to an afterparty with live music and dance.
