New Dean Of Faculty Selected At North Campus

Efrain Venezuela has been selected as North Campus’ dean of faculty.

Venezuela, who started in his new position on June 1, will be in charge of academic affairs, faculty development and program advancements.

“I learned so much from [our faculty] and I would like to make sure to continue the legacy,” Venezuela said.

In 2006, Venezuela started working in professional and workforce development at North Campus. He was later named associate dean of academic affairs—a position he has held for the past 11 years. Before joining Miami Dade College, Venezuela worked in biotechnology research and development for more than 18 years.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Stony Brook University in 1986 and a master’s degree in molecular biology from Middle Tennessee State University in 1989. Three years later, Venezuela earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Miami. In 2004, he graduated from Nova Southerneastern University with a doctor of education degree.
