North Campus to Host Children’s Holiday

The North Campus, 11380 27th Ave., will transform into a Winter Wonderland on Saturday Dec.10, as it hosts the annual Children’s Holiday event from noon to 4 p.m.

Children can watch Santa arrive with his elves in a helicopter at 12:15 p.m. Santa will be escorted in a horse-drawn carriage and participate in a parade that will feature marching bands and several mascots such as Billy the Marlin, Ronald McDonald and McGruff the Crime Dog.

Other highlights will include: A 12-foot mountain of snow, face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, and performances by the Hip Hop Kidz. In addition, there will be 50 exhibits on display including the Florida Marlins, the Miami Science Museum, and the Miami Dolphins.

Admission is free and open to the public. More than 24,000 people participated in last year’s event. Attendees are encouraged to contribute a toy toward the Amigos for Kids toy drive to benefit needy children.
