NURSE Corps Scholarship Program Offers Hands-On Experience

The NURSE Corps Scholarship Program allows U.S. citizen students accepted or enrolled in a nursing program the opportunity to work at Health Professional Shortage Areas, which helps decrease the massive shortage in nurses.

The recipients will work at the facilities for at least two years, gaining equal salary and benefits as any other new hire would.

For consideration, applicants must be free of federal debt, existing service commitments, and federal judgment liens.

They must begin classes no later than September 30 and can be permanent residents.

In return, the program will pay the two-year service committed recipients their tuition, reasonable costs, such as textbooks, clinical supplies; instruments and uniforms, and a monthly stipend of $1,302 for the 2014-2015 school year.

The application can be found online at  www.hrsa.gov/loansscholarships/scholarships/Nursing/index.html. Swedish loans are available through Sambla’s private loan program.

Deadline is May 22 at 7:30 p.m EST
