NWSA To Perform Guys And Dolls In February

New World School of the Arts students to perform Guys and Dolls from Feb. 16 to Feb. 25 at the Louise O. Gerrits Theater, 25 N.E. 2nd St.

The play will begin at 7:30 p.m on Feb. 16, Feb. 17, Feb. 23 and Feb. 24. Showtimes start at 2 p.m. on Feb.18 and Feb. 25.

General admission is $15. Admission for seniors and Miami Dade College students and faculty is $10.

Guys and Dolls has won a bevy of  Tony Awards, Drama Desks and Olivier’s during its original production. The musical was written by Frank Loesser.

“We will have a live orchestra from the NWSA music division and there will be more of a modern twist with costuming.” said Patrice Bailey, NWSA dean of theater and director of the musical. “As a director, I am always thinking about how to make a show like Guys and Dolls relevant to a modern audience. Certainly today’s audience can still relate to the story of taking a risk and gambling on love.”
