On September 19, Steve Roitstein, a producer and music professor at Miami Dade College, will perform with his band, PALO!, at the Freedom Tower located at 600 Biscayne Blvd.
Featuring saxophonist and MDC music instructor Ed Calle, PALO! is a band with a unique and contemporary genre of music the band refers to as “Afro-Cuban-Punk.”
In addition to Calle, Roitstein performs on the piano, and Leslie Cartaya is the bands vocalist. Philbert Armentos also adds vocals and percussions.
PALO! has attracted the attention of the Miami New Times, which called them “The best Latin Band of 2014.”
The free performance is at 6:45 p.m. and is a tribute and celebration to Miami’s Cuban culture.
