Kendall Campus will host Contact Tracing and Health Disparities in the Wake of COVID-19 on Oct. 15 from 9:50 to 11:05 a.m. via Microsoft Teams.
The panel discussion will explore health disparities among minority communities and the economical debts that have arisen due to COVID-19.
“The people that [have] been most affected during this pandemic is the Latino community,” said Medical Campus professor Dadilia Garces Mejia. “Taking into account that we are in Hispanic Heritage Month, we want to bring awareness to our students about what is happening with the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Panelists will also discuss why contact tracing is an effective health strategy to prevent transmission of the coronavirus and promote Miami Dade College’s contact tracing program. It launched the first contact tracing training in Spanish in the nation.
