School Of Justice Instructor Receives Commendation For Making More Than 1,000 DUI Arrests

George Pacheco, who has worked in the Miami-Dade Police Department for more than 26 years, received an award from the Mothers Against Drunk Driving organization for conducting more than 1,000 career DUI arrests.

Pacheco, who has served as a defensive tactics instructor for the School of Justice, Public Safety And Law Studies at North Campus since October of 2000, received the honor last month.

“I’ve been able to take some people off the road that needed to be taken off the road,” Pacheco said. “It’s been a good ride.”

The 50-year-old earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice from North Campus in 1992 and has served as a law enforcement officer in the MDPD’s DUI unit since April of 1996.

He also has bachelor’s degrees in criminal justice and in child psychology from Florida Atlantic University.
