Stanton Hits It Out Of The Park With New Contract

Miami Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton is receiving an early Christmas present this year.

Well, for the next thirteen years he’ll be celebrating each day like it was Dec.25.

How does unwrapping a contract that pays him $325 million through the year 2027?

That’s what Stanton will receive during his time with the Fish.

Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria successfully locked up the Marlins slugger long term.

Why would anyone pay a single person $325 million to play a game. Who the hell is this Loria guy and why is he shelling out that kind of money?

Stanton is a two-time All-Star. He is coming off his best year, winning the 2014 National League Hank Aaron Awardgiven annually to the top hitter in each leaguewhile he belted 37 home runs.

So the powerful and extremely talented Stanton is worth a lot, but $325 million?

Let’s break down his contract:

Stanton will receive $325 million over the span of 13 years.

If distributed evenly per year (he took less in the early years of the contract), that’s $25 million a year.

Under those guidelines he would earn $2,083,333 a month; $480,769 a week; $68,306 a day;$2,846 an hour; $47 a minute and $0.79 a second.

Stanton will basically make a dollar with every breath he takes.

Giancarlo Stanton is going to make more in one day than what the average Floridian makes in a year.

Do you know what you could do with $325 million dollars?

If Barack Obama wanted to put the White House up for sale, Giancarlo Stanton could purchase it with millions left over. Hell, the man could buy a new Ferrari every month for the next 13 years.

Hypothetically speaking, Stanton could purchase 32,532,532 copies of Taylor Swift’s 1989 album from Amazon if he wanted to. Though the talented Swift sells many albums, I doubt Stanton will purchase any of them.

In the time it took you to finish reading this, Stanton has made about $100.
