Udall Foundation Offers $7,000 Scholarships

The Udall Foundation is awarding 50 scholarships worth up to $7,000 each. The deadline to apply is Feb. 21.

Qualifying students must be pursuing a major related to Native American policy, environmental studies and/or health care. Any student applying with a Native American policy-related major must have first or second generation lineage to any state or federally recognized tribe or band.

The Udall Foundation is meant to honor the legacies of Morris and Stewart Udall whose careers as congressmen had an impact on Native-American self-governance and health care.

Applicants must be a US Citizen or permanent resident, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the 2019-2020 academic school year.

Students must answer 11 short-essay questions, provide three recommendation letters, their college transcript and write an 800-word essay on how any speech, legislative act, book or public policy statement by Morris or Stewart Udall affected them.    

Miami Dade College nominates five students every year.
