Miami Dade College’s West Campus suspended classes for the evening after a water main break caused heavy flooding that shutdown NW 41th St. between 115th Ave. and 117th Ave. near the Florida Turnpike.
The Doral-based campus sits on 3800 NW 115th Ave. Doral officials said the flooding may have caused a sinkhole in the area.
West Campus and the surrounding area have no water, according to Juan Mendieta, director of communications for Miami Dade College. College officials said there is no definitive time frame as to when classes might resume because it depends on when the City of Doral fixes the damage.
“The issue is beyond the control of the College,” Mendieta said.
The water breakage was caused when construction workers broke a pipe in the area. No injuries have been reported.
