The Reporter<\/em><\/a> <\/strong><\/span>is the student newspaper at Miami Dade College.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was launched on Oct. 4, 2010<\/a><\/strong>,<\/span> features 16 pages printing on a biweekly schedule, has a circulation of 10,250 per print cycle, and is augmented by a website with video and audio content.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Reporter<\/em> is distributed at all eight MDC campuses and has newsrooms at the North, Wolfson, and Kendall Campuses.<\/span><\/p>\n

The paper is a product of the three now-defunct student newspapers at MDC.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Falcon Times<\/em> was Miami Dade College\u2019s first student newspaper; it served the students at the North Campus and was launched in 1961. It was followed by the Catalyst<\/em> in 1966, based at the Kendall Campus. The Downtowner<\/em>, which served the Wolfson Campus, originated in 1970; it was renamed the Metropolis\u00a0<\/em>in 1984.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prominent alumni of the student newspapers include Pulitzer Prize-winner and author, Liz Balmaseda<\/a><\/strong>,<\/span> who is the is currently the Food & Dining editor at The Palm Beach Post<\/em>, Emmy Award-winning CBS4 News anchorman, Eliott Rodriguez<\/a><\/strong>,<\/span> and El Nuevo<\/em> Herald<\/em> managing editor, Jay Ducassi.<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Through the years, Miami Dade College\u2019s student newspapers have won 22 National Pacemaker Awards and received hundreds of honors from the Florida College System Publications Association.<\/span><\/p>\n

Its alumni have garnered Pulitzer Prizes and worked at some of the most prestigious news organizations in the United States, among them: The New York Times, The Washington Post, <\/em>the Boston Globe, The Dallas Morning News, <\/em>the Tampa Bay Times, The Miami Herald, Bloomberg News, USA Today,\u00a0 The Seattle Times and<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>the Chicago Tribune<\/em>.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
