On Jan. 21, one of the biggest protests that has ever taken place in this country was witnessed. Almost four million women, men, and children in Washington D.C. and other places in all seven continents marched to call attention to many, but extremely important issues. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Women’s March<\/span><\/strong><\/a> was just like president’s Trump inauguration, it was just more crowded and festive. Besides women’s rights, the march brought attention to other critical issues, as well. Issues such as Planned Parenthood, gay rights, global warming<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, as well as the “free the nipple” movement with thousands of women burning their 30-dollar Victoria Secret’s bras. <\/span><\/p>\n

Many think protesting is just a waste of time combined with a lot of disturbance, confusion, and violence, like black blocs. These protesters go out there destroying everything as if \u00a0they were inside of a mosh. However, that was not the case of Saturday’s march, that seemed more like an enormous “on Wednesdays, we wear pink” type of walk.<\/span><\/p>\n

Protests can be really peaceful, like the Washington one where you had famous women, from Cher to Katy Perry and with no destruction at all besides some burned bras here and there. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, can it be considered as political disrespect when it happened just a day after the presidential inauguration? The answer to this is no, it cannot be considered as disrespect. It is a right to every American, it is in the constitution and that is at least something the president can’t change or touch, at least not alone. <\/span><\/p>\n

Should protesting be seen as a bad thing? We shouldn’t see it as a bad thing. Whoever didn’t go to the march, or sees it as a waste of time, should pay attention to the fact that there are a lot of people out there who aren’t in favor of our new government. They will be watching closely to every step that the government takes, like a snake ready to strike its next victim. <\/span><\/p>\n

To everyone who went out there, regardless if you are female, male, black, yellow, white, Muslim, Catholic, with different ethnicities and beliefs, I want to say thank you, for showing that you care.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for the president? Don’t take it as a bad thing. It is good when you’re a businessman with a lot of money, able to “make it rain” whenever you want to. One thing you shouldn’t do anymore, though, is to act like a businessman and just look at your own interests. Running a country is nothing like running a business.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s okay not knowing what to do. We college students go through that a lot. We just stop and listen to what the world has to tell us.<\/span><\/p>\n

Take this as an opportunity to listen to what this gigantic group of angry people have to tell you, what their needs and desires are, as well as those of your own supporters, Trump. We’re giving you the opportunity to prove 63 million Americans wrong, and show that you are really capable of doing your job.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
