{"id":10295,"date":"2017-02-24T16:08:49","date_gmt":"2017-02-24T21:08:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mdcthereporter.com\/?p=10295"},"modified":"2021-03-12T16:45:03","modified_gmt":"2021-03-12T21:45:03","slug":"mdc-host-ashoka-u-national-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/mdc-host-ashoka-u-national-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"MDC To Host Ashoka U National Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ashoka U National Conference will take place on March 2 and 3 at the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hilton Miami Downtown, located at 1601 Biscayne Blvd. and on March 4 at Wolfson Campus, 300 N.E. 2nd Ave. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ashoka, the largest international network of social entrepreneurs, works to tackle the world&#8217;s most riveting and consuming problems through individuals with the leadership qualities to create substantial change in society. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Miami Dade College was designated as the first public Ashoka U <a href=\"https:\/\/ashokau.org\/changemakercampus\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Changemaker Campus<\/span><\/strong><\/a> back in September 2015. The higher education subsection Ashoka U will host individuals from seven different countries at Wolfson Campus, where MDC President Eduardo J. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Padr\u00f3n <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will address the attendees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Changemaking is having the will and the skill to make change happen,\u201d said Sandra LaFleur, the director of social change initiatives at the College. \u201cIt means having certain abilities, like knowing how to be empathetic, knowing how to be creative or being creative, knowing how to think in the system and look at the bigger picture.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year, the conference is geared toward the d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">evelopment of individual skillsets to lead transformative change, learning and implementing programmatic innovations, and advancing social innovation as a field in higher education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Admission to the conference is $699 for all three days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For more
