For students graduating this spring, the deadline to apply for the 2017 commencement ceremonies is March 20.<\/span><\/p>\n

Five graduations will take place throughout the day on April 29, three at the <\/span>James L. Knight Center<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, 400 S.E. 2nd Ave. and two at the Kendall Campus gymnasium, 11011 S.W. 104 St., building 7000. <\/span><\/p>\n

Students who qualify to walk in graduation must fill out a graduation form at their respective campus\u2019 advisement and career services department. <\/span><\/p>\n

To be eligible to apply for graduation, students must have at least a 2.0 grade point average and have completed all their academic requirements by the end of the spring semester or be registered for the remaining courses during the 2017 spring and summer semesters. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy advice generally would be [for students] to come in to advisement to review the requirements to determine whether or not they are eligible to graduate,\u201d said Miguel Murphy, senior academic adviser at North Campus. \u201cComing in will sort of bring that to the forefront.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Several thousand people are expected to attend the Miami Dade College commencement ceremonies this spring.<\/span> Approximately 14,000 students from MDC\u2019s eight campuses and several outreach centers walked in the 2016 ceremonies. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c[Graduation] specifies your completion and [to] be acknowledged by not only your family but the administration as well,\u201d said Enrique Sepulveda<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, the Student Government Association vice president at Wolfson Campus. <\/span><\/p>\n

Keynote speakers for the graduation ceremonies have not been set yet. However, in recent years, several notable figures have addressed MDC, students including former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. <\/span><\/p>\n

Information on how many tickets each student will receive for family members or friends to attend graduation will be announced at a later date. Students\u2019 diplomas will be mailed to them via U.S. mail six to eight weeks after their grades are posted. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a relief really, because I\u2019m finally done,\u201d <\/span>said <\/span>Joao Arthur Soldatelli Mosthen, a <\/span>Kendall Campus student, who said he applied for the 2017 graduation ceremony<\/span>. \u201cI\u2019m going to be able to kind of like do more of what I want, I guess like focus more on my personal projects, I\u2019d say.\u201d —————————————————————————————————————————<\/span><\/p>\n
