{"id":11866,"date":"2017-08-23T20:07:16","date_gmt":"2017-08-24T00:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mdcthereporter.com\/?p=11866"},"modified":"2021-01-25T13:21:20","modified_gmt":"2021-01-25T18:21:20","slug":"wynwood-goes-nuts-salty-donut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/wynwood-goes-nuts-salty-donut\/","title":{"rendered":"Wynwood Goes Nuts For Doughnuts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the soul of Miami\u2014 often referred to as Wynwood\u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saltydonut.com\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">an artisanal donut shop<\/span><\/strong><\/a> has created a name for themselves, bringing in tourists and natives alike.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019ve been looking for a great coffee and donut shop,\u201d Marian Moreno, a customer said. \u201cI saw them online and wanted to try it.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What started back in December of 2015 as a weekend camper pop-up for locals, has now grown into an everyday brick-and-mortar filled weekly with new creations.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They keep a solid six selections all year round, and offer weekly flavors depending on what inspires them. The Salty Donut has become a staple in Wynwood while also keeping <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdcthereporter.com\/vegan-bakery-bunnie-cakes-puts-a-healthy-twist-on-dessert\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">local businesses<\/span><\/strong><\/a> in the loop by partnering with them. A top seller, the Maple Bacon, uses pork from Miami Smokers also located in the Wynwood area.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe like to do collabs with a lot of local businesses,\u201d said Jay Aveiga, the general manager of The Salty Donut. \u201cWe have a really neighborly situation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A popular seasonal selection that caused a frenzy was the sticky bun <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">doughnut<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which partnered with Knaus Berry Farm, located in Homestead. The limited time dessert created mile long lines. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are numerous coffee selections that complement each <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">doughnut. The <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">salted caramel latte and cereal milk latte are among the fan favorites.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019ve been here about eight or ten times,\u201d said Alan Bellando. \u201cMy family loves them because there\u2019s always something different.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not only is the taste of The Salty Donut amazing, but the interior decor creates an aesthetically pleasing environment for customers. Open windows, brick walls and wooden seats create the perfect background to enjoy artisanal <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">doughnuts <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with friends. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe design of the store is so beautiful,\u201d said Gina Molinares. \u201cI love the environment.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To accommodate <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">doughnut <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">junkies who don\u2019t want to drive to Wynwood, The Salty Donut is now available six days a week on UberEats and will soon be available on the Postmates app.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The popularity of the store has caused other <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">doughnut<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> shops to pop up, but The Salty Donut remains a top option. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI think it\u2019s the attention we put into every <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">doughnut<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d Aveiga said.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the shop continues to emerge, it has already been honored as a top two best selling <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">doughnut <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the country on the UberEats app and best doughnut in Miami by the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Miami New Times<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight:
