Dr. M. Nia Madison, microbiology professor at Miami Dade College, was awarded $2,500 from The L’Or\u00e9al USA For Women in Science<\/span><\/strong><\/a>‘s Changing the Face of STEM (CTFS) on Sept. 20. <\/span><\/p>\n

Recipients are awarded for their contributions in science, technology, engineering and math and commitment by serving as role models for younger generations. The grant serves as continued support for FWIS Fellows who have won the $60,000 postdoctoral research award.<\/span><\/p>\n

This will be Madison\u2019s second time, in less than two years, to receive funding from L’Oreal USA.<\/span><\/p>\n

At MDC, Madison recruits high school students to Homestead Campus<\/span><\/strong><\/a> for a two-day workshop featuring \u00a0research and lectures by prominent STEM oriented professional women. <\/span><\/p>\n

Workshop participants also attend catered luncheons with guest speakers and microbiology students to learn about collegiate life at MDC.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
