During her time at <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Reporter,<\/span><\/i> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">she won second place for in-depth reporting <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from the Florida College System Publications Association.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She graduated from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiu.edu\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Florida International University<\/span><\/a> with a bachelor\u2019s degree in communications in July.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fernandez aspires to return to Miami to become a local anchor and pursue a master\u2019s degree. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI am very excited and grateful for the opportunity,\u201d Fernandez said. \u201cIt is truly a blessing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Stephanie Fernandez, a former staff writer for The Reporter during the 2013-2014 year, landed a multimedia journalist position at KGNS-TV Channel 8 in Laredo, Texas.
