The data that we save on our personal computers is valuable. Losing this information can be an \u00a0enormous inconvenience. Flash drives don\u2019t help this problem either. Losing a small flash drive is much easier than losing a laptop.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, most people carry a lot of business and work documents in their laptops. Some people even store their documents the old-fashioned way, printing paper copies and carrying the files with them. <\/span><\/p>\n

How is all this information protected? <\/span><\/p>\n

Laptops and personal devices are really interesting stuff for hackers. These hackers can crack the passwords of any complex device within minutes. They discover important information by using terms related to monetary transactions such as \u201cwired transfer\u201d and \u201cbank\u201d to find content that could be used to blackmail their victims.<\/span><\/p>\n

All these problems show that users need to focus on protecting their data and being able to recover them quickly if stolen. <\/span><\/p>\n

One way of protecting information is refraining from storing any payment or personal information in mailboxes or in personal laptops. Users must protect the access to their accounts in all ways. This applies to email and similar web services. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Another way of protecting information is by using two-step verification<\/span><\/a>. All users should be able to learn how to quickly restore access to their emails. Two-step verification is simply associating a phone number or another email account with the account one is trying to protect. Easy and safe.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, users should always pay attention to the address bar in the browser when navigating the internet. The address must start with \u201chttps.\u201d Websites that are supported by a Secure Sockets Layer Certificate, which show users websites where sensitive information needs to entered is safe will show a green lock in the address bar.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, everyone should avoid using their emails when working with public wifi networks. <\/span><\/p>\n
