{"id":13567,"date":"2018-03-30T19:29:02","date_gmt":"2018-03-30T23:29:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mdcthereporter.com\/?p=13567"},"modified":"2021-01-20T16:10:42","modified_gmt":"2021-01-20T21:10:42","slug":"andre-lepecki-give-lecture-mdc-moad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/andre-lepecki-give-lecture-mdc-moad\/","title":{"rendered":"Andr\u00e9 Lepecki To Give Lecture At MDC MOAD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Miami Dade College\u2019s Museum of Art and Design will present In The Event of Encounter (or The Improbable Living Together) by Andr\u00e9 Lepecki from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on April 7 at the second floor of the Freedom Tower, 600 Biscayne Blvd. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lepecki, a professor and chairperson for performance studies at New York University, will lecture about how experimental performances and visual artists from the 1970s and onwards have tried to answer the question: how to live together?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI am taking inspiration from a book of the same title by the French theorist Roland Barthes, and will be looking both into what Barthes had to say about this problem, as well as to some art works by different artists such as the Brazilian H\u00e9lio Oiticica, the American Ralph Lemon and Julie Tolentino and the Colombian Maria Jos\u00e9 Arjona,\u201d Lepecki said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lecture is under the museum\u2019s Living Together Series, which focuses on performances and films centered on social and cultural issues. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Admission is free.
