The Miami Dade College Summer High School Journalism Institute is an intensive six-week dual-enrollment summer program for students interested in careers in journalism. Students from the program\u2019s second class, which took place from June 25 \u2013August 3, learned how to write news and feature stories, take photographs and work on headline and caption writing. The team of student reporters, which included students from Barbara Goleman Senior High School, <\/span>Maritime and Science Technology Academy,<\/span>\u00a0North Miami Beach Senior High School , Doral Performing Arts & Entertainment Academy and Design and Architecture Senior High School, produced an eight-page newspaper\u2014<\/span>The Lead<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/a>\u2014at the end of the semester. These are the students who participated in the cohort.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cabrera, a senior at Barbara Goleman Senior High School, has written articles for the <\/span>Miami Laker<\/span><\/i>, has her own blog and hopes to restart the student newspaper at her high school. She aspires to be a businesswoman\/writer.<\/span><\/p>\n
