Sol Gonzalez was named the new dean of students at InterAmerican Campus. She has worked at Miami Dade College for more than 25 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout her tenure, Gonzalez has also served as the director of ACCESS Services for Students with Disability and as director of Student Retention.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her first official day as dean of students was March 16. She hopes to bring a student-oriented approach and experience to the student body. <\/span><\/p>\n

“I attended Miami Dade College as an immigrant and the first in my family to go to college,” Gonzalez said. “There were days that were more difficult than others; as most things in life, pursuing a higher education degree requires commitment and persistence.” <\/span><\/p>\n

Gonzalez obtained her master’s degree in mental health counseling from Barry University<\/span><\/a>. She has concrete ideas on how to help the campus grow and promote higher education within the community.<\/span><\/p>\n

“As having contributed to a better campus environment and support for student learning through co-curricular activities, promoting that students have places to hang out and to learn, develop a sense of community and leadership skills,” Gonzalez said.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
