R<\/span>etired <\/span>Federal Bureau of Investigation<\/span> agent Ed Mireles will discuss his career and book, <\/span>FBI Miami Firefight \u2013 Five Minutes that Changed the Bureau,<\/span><\/i> at North Campus<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>11380 N.W. 27th Ave., <\/span>Room 2151 on March 6 at 10 a.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mireles is famous for his direct involvement in the 1986 Miami Shootout that left four men dead and five others wounded in a gun battle. He was awarded the FBI Medal of Valor in 1990 and elected Police Officer of the Year by International Association of Chiefs of Police in 1986. <\/span><\/p>\n

The event is a collaborative effort between the Miami Dade College School of Justice<\/span><\/a> and the South Florida Intelligence Community Centers for Academic Excellence. <\/span><\/p>\n
