It was a chance meeting that spawned an art club. <\/span><\/p>\n

Last September, while Wolfson Campus students Parker Florian and Christian Sala waited to meet with English professor Victor Uszerowicz, they struck up a conversation. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That small talk about their majors and personal interests led them to create an arts club at Wolfson Campus. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Multiple Impressions<\/span><\/a>, an organization seeking creatives that want to use their talent to help the community, began recruiting members and holding meetings last October. The club was official vetted by Student Life in January.\u00a0Florian and Sala serve as co-presidents and Uszerowicz is the advisor.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe direction that we\u2019ve had for the club has been and always will be that this is a movement\u2014something that transcends through time\u2014and a positive way to help people in every aspect we can,\u201d said Florian, an art therapy major.<\/span><\/p>\n

The club, which has about 30 members, holds meetings every other Friday at Wolfson Campus in Room 3223 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. <\/span><\/p>\n

Multiple Impressions recruits a widen range of talent including artists, musicians, photographers and virtual reality artists. The club\u2019s mission is to gather students who share a common love for art and a passion for giving back to their community, regardless of their medium.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not really about the skillset. If you are brave enough to come and show us your art, that\u2019s amazing,\u201d Florian said \u201cWe want to use different mediums of art\u2014whether it\u2019s music, painting, or even tattoo artists\u2014to contribute to society.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Multiple Impressions promotes open-mindedness and inclusion. Florian wants students to know that, if they join, their ideas and artistic vision will be valued just as highly as any other member or officer. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not above any club individual or member,\u201d Florian says. <\/span><\/p>\n

The club plans to collaborate with other clubs and organizations on campus to contribute a positive impact on the Miami Dade College community using art.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the projects they have planned is a collaboration with the YES! Club and Generation Action at Wolfson Campus for an event that will take place later this semester. The goal is to spread awareness for women\u2019s rights about the importance of having power over their own bodies and their own life choices. <\/span><\/p>\n

During the event, Multiple Impressions will be utilizing various forms of art, such as slam poetry and virtual reality drawing that is related to the event\u2019s theme. Specific details for the event are in the process of finalization. <\/span><\/p>\n

Another project they plan to organize is a collaborative mural project with other organizations at Wolfson Campus. Florian and Sala hope to complete the project before they graduate in Spring of 2020. Sala envisions the mural as \u201ca legacy event\u201d that will ensure the organizations longevity. They encourage students with an interest in the arts to join them in their journey. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIf you like using art, no matter what skill set you have, if you have the passion to give back to the community\u2014if you have that drive\u2014that\u2019s all that matters,\u201d Florian says.<\/span><\/p>\n
