Many times the best of the best are able to get in and hopefully get awarded for their greatness from actor to actress, from director to screenwriter, from Best Picture, Animated or otherwise. If you are one of the many people who believe they are above the Academy and say \u201cI\u2019m not gonna watch it because X or Y didn\u2019t get nominated,\u201d admit it, you are going to at least check out the results the next day. If you are taking bets on who\u2019s going to win, then get your scorecards out because I am going to help you ace the Oscars.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Best Picture:<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Sniper<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Clint Eastwood, Robert Lorenz, Andrew Lazar, Bradley Cooper and Peter Morgan<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Birdman<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Alejandro Gonz\u00e1lez I\u00f1\u00e1rritu, John Lesher and James W. Skotchdopole<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boyhood<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Richard Linklater and Cathleen Sutherland<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Grand Budapest Hotel<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Wes Anderson, Scott Rudin, Steven Rales and Jeremy Dawson<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Imitation Game<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Nora Grossman, Ido Ostrowsky and Teddy Schwarzman<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selma<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Christian Colson, Oprah Winfrey, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Theory of Everything<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Lisa Bruce and Anthony McCarten<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whiplash<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Jason Blum, Helen Estabrook and David Lancaster<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We finally got less than nine nominees, but I think at this point, either go to a straight ten or go back to five. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boyhood<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has the momentum of the Golden Globes while <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Imitation Game <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is picking up steam and moving forward. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2562232\/\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Birdman<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has a lot on its side too (despite the Editing snub) and believe it or not, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selma<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is still in the race. \u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Sniper<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdcthereporter.com\/quirky-comedy-king-delivers-gold-with-the-grand-budapest-hotel\/\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Grand Budapest Hotel<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> also made a strong showing. However, the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) and PGA (Producer\u2019s Guild of America) chose <em>Birdman<\/em> in a shocking upset. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Should Win:<\/strong> <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Birdman<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Alejandro Gonz\u00e1lez I\u00f1\u00e1rritu, John Lesher and James W. For the majority of the season this category has been Richard Linklater\u2019s to lose but Morten Tyldum has a powerful Harvey Weinstein behind him, and he\u2019ll be pushing <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Imitation Game<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with everything he\u2019s got. \u00a0Fox Searchlight is also pulling double duty with Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and Wes Anderson who both were a heavy presence on the circuit all year. \u00a0Both have a feasible shot of upsetting. \u00a0All I can say to poor Ava DuVernay (Director of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selma<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) is that your time will come soon. \u00a0Still a shame though.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Should Win:<\/strong> Alejandro Gonz\u00e1lez I\u00f1\u00e1rritu \u2014 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Birdman <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Will Win<\/strong>: Richard Linklater \u2014 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boyhood<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Best Actor:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Steve Carell \u2013 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foxcatche<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">r as John Eleuth\u00e8re du Pont<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bradley Cooper \u2013 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Sniper as Chris Kyle<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Benedict Cumberbatch \u2013 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Imitation Game<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as Alan Turing<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Michael Keaton \u2013 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Birdman<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) as Riggan Thomson<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eddie Redmayne \u2013 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Theory of Everything<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as Stephen Hawking<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the end, Steve Carell prevailed as an Oscar nominee for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foxcatcher<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u00a0An amazing inclusion among these men, despite many feeling that a supporting bid would have him contend for the prize. And Bradley Cooper muscled his way in to his third consecutive nomination for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Sniper<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u00a0Unfortunately, it came at the expense of David Oyelowo\u2018s marvelous turn as Dr. Martin Luther King in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selma<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It\u2019s worth noting that many are bummed about the Jake Gyllenhaal miss for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nightcrawler<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well. \u00a0So what do we have now? \u00a0Michael Keaton\u2018s wins at the Golden Globes in Comedy\/Musical, and his two trophies at the Critics Choice Movie Awards have firmed his place in the front of the pack. However, Eddie Redmayne\u2018s Golden Globe win in Drama, along with the Weinstein machine behind Benedict Cumberbatch can give Keaton some stiff competition. Winning lots of awards including the Globe and Critics Choice has been great for her campaign.With Jennifer Aniston out of the picture for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cake<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a person I felt that would really challenge Moore for the title, the path is even clearer. Felicity Jones hopes to break up the party with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Theory of Everything<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but the buzz for any win for the film has been surrounding co-star Eddie Redmayne and the score. \u00a0Reese Witherspoon nabbed key mentions for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wild<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but no one is really rallying for a second Oscar for her. Simmons. \u00a0Edward Norton made a fine showing during the precursors but I think the real spoiler to Simmons is Ethan Hawke who could ride a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boyhood<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> train on Oscar night. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mark Ruffalo and Robert Duvall will just enjoy the show.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Should Win:<\/strong> J.
