Jane Negreira, an art major at Kendall Campus<\/span><\/a>, received the 2019 Rosendo Rosell Scholarship.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The scholarship, a $1,500 prize, recognizes Hispanic students in the arts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Negreira, 19, was matched with the award through Miami Dade College\u2019s 2019-20 scholarship application\u2014a brief questionnaire with two short-response essay questions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She was honored by the College\u2019s administrators and the scholarship\u2019s donors at a breakfast luncheon on July 31.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI felt very excited about winning and getting to meet the donors over breakfast,\u201d Negreira said. \u201cGo and apply for scholarships, even if you don\u2019t think you might win. It\u2019s something really exciting.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The scholarship is named in honor of Rosendo Rosell<\/span><\/a>, a Cuban actor and musician who dedicated his life to helping communities.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
