Computer science professor Javier Coto will host <\/span>Sisters in STEM<\/span><\/i>, a panel discussion focused on women in the field, at Homestead Campus<\/span><\/a>, 500 College Terrace, on Feb. 20 at 12:40 p.m. in Room F222.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The panel will invite four women to discuss how race and gender can affect a woman\u2019s academic and professional experiences.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to raise awareness,\u201d Coto said. \u201cWhen you look at [statistics], women of color are the most underrepresented.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These women will discuss how they overcame barriers as women of color in the STEM field.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event is free and open to the public.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
